Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
One Desk Studios ("we", "us") makes Critter Pals, a game for young children. We built it so that it does not collect personal information from anyone who plays it. This page explains exactly what that means, for the game and for this website.
The short version
- Critter Pals does not collect personal information. There are no accounts, no sign-ins and no chat.
- No ads, no analytics and no tracking.
- Progress, and any names your child types, stay on your device.
- Purchases go through Apple or Google, behind a grown-up check. We never see payment details.
- Questions? Email contact@onedeskstudios.com.
What Critter Pals collects
Nothing personal. The game never asks for your child's name, email address, phone number, birthday, photo, voice, location, contacts or any other personal information. There are no accounts or sign-ins, no chat, no social features, and no way for players to contact each other or share anything.
What stays on your device
The game saves its progress on your device so it is there next time: the friends your child has met, hearts and keepsakes, chosen colors and hats, sound settings, and anything that has been unlocked.
Your child can give the animal they play as a name of their own. That name is saved only on the device too, and is only used inside the game (for example, a "Hi, Finn!" as they set off).
None of this is ever sent to us, and deleting the game deletes it. (If your device makes its own backups, such as to iCloud or your Google account, they may include the game's progress, just as they do for other apps.)
Purchases
Five friends in each world are free to play. The rest of each world, and extra animals to play as in Dress Up, can be unlocked with one-time purchases through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The purchase screens sit behind a grown-up check, so children can't buy anything by accident.
Apple and Google handle the payment entirely. We never see card or payment details. The store simply tells the game on your device what has been bought, so it can unlock it.
Unity, the engine the game is made with
Critter Pals is built with the Unity game engine, and we have switched off Unity's analytics, ads and crash reporting.
For purchases, the game uses Unity's in-app purchase tool, which asks Apple or Google for prices and past purchases and handles buying and restoring. That tool may also send Unity basic technical details, such as the device model, operating system and app version, a random ID created for this install of the game, and whether purchases are working, so Unity can keep the tool reliable. These details never include your child's name or anything typed into the game, and we do not use them for advertising. Unity's privacy policy is at unity.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Apple and Google
Downloading the game and buying things in it happen through Apple or Google, under their own privacy policies (Apple, Google). They may give us general reports, such as how many times the game was downloaded or whether it crashed on a kind of device. These reports never tell us who anyone is.
Ads, tracking and links
Critter Pals has no ads. We don't use advertising or analytics tools, we don't track anyone across other apps or websites, and we never sell anyone's information or share it for advertising. The game's only link out is to this privacy policy, in Settings, and it sits behind a grown-up check like the purchases do.
Children's privacy
Critter Pals is made for children, so we designed it to follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States and similar laws elsewhere, such as the GDPR in Europe and the UK. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or from anyone else.
Because we don't collect information about your child, there is nothing for us to show you, change or delete. If you ever think we have received information about your child, email us and we will delete it right away.
Keeping and deleting information
Game progress stays on your device until you delete the game. We don't keep a copy anywhere. Emails you send us are kept only as long as we need them to help you, and we will delete them sooner if you ask.
If you email us
If you email us, we get your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you. We never add you to a mailing list, and we never sell or share your email. Our email is hosted by Google.
This website
onedeskstudios.com has no ads, no analytics and no trackers, we don't set any cookies, and the site doesn't load anything from other companies. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles basic technical information such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from attacks (Cloudflare's privacy policy).
Changes to this policy
If we change how Critter Pals or this website handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top first. If a change would ever mean collecting personal information from children, we would ask for a parent's permission before collecting anything, as COPPA requires.
